Burger King is the king?

Started off today going to Freret Po-Boy and Donut Shop,a bakery on my block that has some apple fritters that are ridiculously good. They are like 7" around and baked with cinnamon and apple chunks. The icing on it is kind of similar to a Krispy Kreme doughnut and makes them taste still warm even when they are not. They are probably the best apple fritters I have ever had which includes anything served at an apple orchard during a New England fall.

Lunch was at Bud's Broilers, a Metro New Orleans hamburger chain that cooks all their burgers on a charcoal grill. My meal was decent, certainly not spectacular, but did the job. The strange thing was when I walked out. We exited the door of the restaurant, and across the street was Burger King, which also offers flame cooked burgers. The smell coming out of their building was so much better. You could really smell their flames. Just kind of ironic that the international fast food giant actually gave off a much higher aroma quality than the local joint.

Dinner was chicken breasts stuffed with pineapple and wrapped in bacon. I wish I could take credit for coming up with the recipe, but its from the pre-made, yet raw meat section at Rouse's grocery store. I usually don't get stuff from this section, but I always look, since they often times miss label stuff and you can get it for a fraction of the price as normal. Plus the stuff is usually really good.

Running around doing errands tonight, stopped at Circle K. I think it was the first time I've ever been in one, but they have a frozen coffee machine that is awesome. Best part is that they charge the same as they do for their hot coffees, which makes it really cheap compared to similar products at McDonalds or Starbucks.

As I look back on this blog I realize that it is kind of strange for my first blog since I ate out so much. Most days I eat at home all three meals, but I guess its just one of those days.

Welcome

I like food, food tastes good.

--The Descendents

I decided to start this blog because I really enjoy food. I like cooking, reading recipes, watching cooking shows--pretty much anything. I like drinks too. I think what I like the most about food is new innovations. I love taking recipes or old favorites and creating my own versions of them. I love trying new stuff companies or restaurants are offering. And if you're wondering yes I would have seconds of Raccoon Bacon and Unicorn Meat. I am going to be using this blog to write on whatever I want regarding food. This means if I have a ridiculous meal at Commander's Palace I'm going to write about it. This means if I try a new sandwich at McDonald's and it sucks I'm going to write about it. If I try a beer and it tastes like a wine cooler, it will be on Raccoon Bacon and Unicorn Meat. And I will definitely be writing about the good things AND the bad things that I make myself. I've only been cooking on a regular basis, for two years now, and I say I have more hits than misses, but once and awhile I'll try something that's a little too over the top. I may even post some recipes that I come up with. Hopefully we'll get some comments from other people on here too.
